Candle Care

How to take care of your candles!

Burn Evenly - The first time you light your candle, let it burn for a while (at least one hour). Ideally, you want to make sure the entire top layer melts before you put it out. Otherwise, your candle may end up tunneling (a wax rim at the edge that never melts).

Keep It Clean - After you enjoy your candle a few times, you may notice some soot or debris (this is normal), but go ahead and clean it when you see it. If left alone, it can cause your candle to overheat and create a flashover (the entire wax is on fire). Obviously, this can be dangerous, so clean it before you use it.

Trim The Wick - An easy way to support a clean candle is a good trim of the wick. This will help reduce the soot and debris buildup. Size matters here, trim your wick to about .25 inches. Too long and the flame will be too big, any shorter it can get lost in a sea of wax.

Extinguish With Care - Try your best to minimize the mess when you're putting out the candle. Blowing it out works, but be sure to not overdo it causing the wax to splatter.

Don't Burn All The Wax - When it's finally time to Recycle & Save, stop using your candle before it completely runs out. Letting it burn all the way, can overheat the candle jar and damage it or make a mess.

Store It Properly - If you don't plan to use your candle right away, store it in a cool dark place. Heat and too might light can cause discoloration and the fragrance to go stale. This won't happen quickly, but for extended periods of time store it properly.
